Tell us a little bit about yourself
Hello! My name is Annie and I am an incoming 4th year student studying human resrouces and human geography! My favourite thing about summer in Toronto is walking outside without freezing and seeing the same streets I’d walk on during the school year filled with flowers and leafy trees, people and animals enjoying the summer.
What has been challenging or frustrating in your missional journey recently? How did you find hope in the midst of it?
The summer has been a challenging time with many distractions that I felt was hindering my ability to be fully present and put my full effort in planning for my fellowship the next school year. I was working long hours and wasn’t able to get good sleep at night to recharge. At times, I felt like I wasn’t able to keep up with everything else that is going on in my life -- friendships, church, fellowship, family, hobbies, etc.
Prayer was the most important thing that gave me hope in the midst of everything. Prayer from others especially was a source of hope and encouragement. Now that summer is drawing to an end, I can see how God has listened to my prayers and used this time to help me learn to depend on Him in my frustration. I am reminded of Philipians 4:6, which says “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
What are you hopeful for moving forward?
I am most excited to partner with God in what He is doing on campus going forward! This summer has been a lot of planning for the upcoming school year, so I am hopeful to reach more people and for opportunities to share the gospel and learn more about being missional together.
