I am Conan from Hong Kong. Currently serving with Bridges Power to Change, which serves International students from all over the world. My favourite memory in summer will definitely be visiting Japan and reconnecting with friends that I have met in Toronto!
How has following Jesus impacted your goals and plans this summer?
This summer, my goal isn’t simply to stay busy or run successful programs. I want to invest deeply in people, especially those who have never had the opportunity to hear the gospel or experience authentic Christian community. I believe God cares more about transformed lives than completed schedules, so I want my time to be shaped by His priorities rather than my own.
As someone serving international students, I’ve also been reminded that every conversation, meal, and friendship can become an opportunity for God to work. Following Jesus has shifted my focus from measuring success by numbers to celebrating faithfulness and obedience.
Why is engaging in missions important to you?
Serving international students has made this even more personal. Many students come from countries where it is difficult to hear the gospel. Yet God has brought them to Canada, giving us an incredible opportunity to love them, build genuine friendships, and share the hope of Christ.
I don’t see missions as something reserved for missionaries overseas. It’s a lifestyle of joining God’s mission wherever He has placed us. For me, missions mean loving people well, listening to their stories, serving their needs, and faithfully pointing them to Jesus through both words and actions.
Can you share about the outreach strategy or ministry overview during your time on your missions trip?
During the mission trip, our strategy was to build genuine relationships before simply presenting information. We engaged people through conversations, hospitality, prayer, community activities, and personal testimonies. Rather than treating outreach as a one-time event, we wanted to create opportunities for ongoing spiritual conversations and meaningful connections with local churches and ministries.
Our desire was not only to share the gospel clearly but also to demonstrate Christ’s love through humility, compassion, and genuine care. We trusted that the Holy Spirit was already at work in people’s hearts and sought to faithfully participate in what God was doing.
How would you encourage someone looking to get involved or engaged missionally? Any specific resources, tools, or communities to connect with?
Start where you are. You don’t need to wait until you’re fully equipped or travel overseas to be involved in missions. God has already placed people around you—neighbours, classmates, coworkers, or international students—who may be searching for hope and belonging.
Begin by praying for people, building genuine friendships, asking thoughtful questions, and learning to listen well. You don’t need to have every answer; simply being present and willing to share how Jesus has changed your life can make a lasting impact.

Any other specific stories you'd like to share?
I had an amazing experience while travelling in Japan when I had the chance to share the gospel with two Japanese friends. It was encouraging to see their willingness to learn more about Jesus, read the Bible, and express their belief that one day they will become Christians.
